Abstract

The revision of Heraclian mythology as proposed by Herodotus is described very differently when compared with the rationalizing proposals of Milesian archaism. It finds its roots in the profound Herodotean religion, takes form through its Egyptian experience and obtains its definitive shape under the transformations of the aristocratic mentality that were produced within the cultural context of the Pentecontaetia.
