Abstract

The professional practice that is exposed in this article is the result of the community experience developed in the neighborhoods of La Trinidad and El Perchel of the Center for Community Social Services of the Central District (Social Cooperation Program), dependent on the Area of Social Rights, Equality, Accessibility and Inclusive Policies of the Malaga City Council.
It is an experience whose background is located in the work carried out by the professionals of the first Social Services of this District, especially Social Work, knowledgeable at the same time of the social problems of Trinidad-Perchel, its community potentialities and the richness of its popular culture.
Within the article, the theoretical and legislative foundations of the community experience are described, the most relevant aspects of its implementation, its innovative methodology and the benefits it provides from the perspective of Social Work.
This community project as we know it today has been the result of a living construction process, built on the experiences, reflections and contributions generated over more than 17 years.
May this article serve as a means to share this unknown praxis of our profession, and to contribute to the necessary “new reconceptualization” of the Public System of Community Social Services.
