Abstract

Internationalization is a phenomenon that came from the hand of globalization to promote cultural and knowledge exchange between universities, increasing the educational quality of higher-education systems. On the other hand, globalization has allowed university rankings (URs) to have a greater role in decision-making, beyond the criticism they receive. This paper analyzes in detail a university ranking little studied in the literature, denominated “U-Multirank” emphasizing the international orientation dimension. The results show the low participation of Argentine and Latin American universities. Spanish universities actively participate by providing a lot of information. Besides, they have positioned in the best-performing groups in the analyzed indicators: foreign language BA and MA programs, international academic staff, international doctorate degrees international joint publications, and student mobility.
