This article studies the contents of scientific communication on covid-19 published on the social network Twitter by a group of national and public universities in Argentina, during the first months of the health emergency. First, a brief review is made of the central role of these institutions in science and technology and the efforts they are making in the field of scientific communication; then, exploratory results are presented on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the content related to the pandemic generated by the universities for Twitter. The results indicate that the potential of the discursive, rhetorical and multimedia resources offered by this social network were partially exploited.
