Ruy López de Villalobos was a man from Málaga who led one of the most important expeditions in the waters of the Pacific Ocean with the objectives of establishing a base on the islands of Poniente and finding the return to México, purposes that could not fulfill, although he discovered new islands and bequeathed the name of the Philippines to a nation. In this work we analyze the figure of Ruy López de Villalobos in its biographical aspects, leaving for the end a hypothesis about the possible discovery of some islands of the Hawaii in 1543.
