The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of three consecutive soccer matches on emotional state (pre-competition & post-competition) of young soccer players. A total of 20 young soccer players (age= 14,75 ± 0,44 years) from one research center high Performance Soccer of Barcelona (Spain), participated in this study. To asses emotional state, we used the Profile of Mood States (POMS) in order to get data of fatigue, depression, tension, hostility and vigor. Complementary, we used rate perceived exertion scale (RPE) in order to obtain the workload. Both tools were used before and after of each match. Significant different were found in depression variable(p<0.05), hostility (p<0.012), vigor (p<0.001) and fatigue (p<0.001), after of pre-competition and post-competition of three match. In addition, POMS shown significant different on tension, depression, vigor and fatigue on pre-competition (p<0.001; p<0.02; p<0.001; p<0.001), respectively. Also, other complementary correlation analysis, between RPE and POMS [RPE-F: Post-competition 1 (0.55); RPE-V: Pre-competition 2 (0.52); RPE-H (-0.62) y RPE-F (0.06) post-competition 2; RPE-H post-competition 3 (-0.50)]. The present study demonstrates that subjective values and non-invasive as POMS and RPE, are valid tools to control the workload young soccer players, considering the competitive environment and the moment are applied.
