In this research, we analyze the representation of the concept of the "ghost" in Pedro Almodóvar's film Volver through an interdisciplinary approach that establishes formal and conceptual connections with contemporary art, literature, and other key cinematic works. The study examines the evolution of the spectral figure from its traditional manifestations to its reinterpretations in contemporary artistic and cultural contexts. Additionally, the analysis addresses fundamental themes such as death, mourning, ritual, memory, and identity, highlighting the central role of symmetry and duplicity in Volver’s narrative structure. To this end, we draw connections to sculptors such as Do-ho Suh and Rachel Whiteread, as well as to films like 3-Iron and Petite Maman. We emphasize the importance of sensory experience in the construction of ghostliness within the film. Finally, the study establishes a link between Volver and The Room Next Door, aiming to explore the continuities and contrasts in their approaches to death and memory
