Quality of life in women who survived cervical cancer: A worldwide systematic review over the past 5 years

Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women worldwide. Its treatment is invasive and taxing, with substantial impacts on quality of life (QoL). This study aimed to review the scientific literature from the past five years on the QoL of women who have survived this cancer. A scoping review was conducted drawing on Scopus and Elsevier’s ScienceDirect platform. The process comprised three stages: Literature retrieval by keywords and filtering; screening of titles and abstracts; and full-text assessment, yielding 11 articles for analysis. The most salient findings indicate that QoL among women diagnosed with cervical cancer is significantly impaired, primarily due to pain and fatigue, which hinder psychological and social adjustment. Additional risk factors identified included older age, physical and psychological comorbidities, low socioeconomic status, and marital status.
