Effects of psychosocioeducational interventions with caregivers of dependent persons on personal/social well-being: A systematic review

Systematic review, Psycho-educational programs, Caregivers, Personal well-being, Social well-beingAbstract
A systematic review was carried out with the aim of investigating the effects of psychosocioeducational intervention programs aimed at informal caregivers of dependent persons on personal and social well-being. Nine databases were searched (Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, EMBASE, Medline, Cochrane, PsycInfo, Social Services Abstracts and Sociological Abstracts) and a total of 28 articles were reviewed. Although certain studies show that some interventions affect certain variables under analysis, no clear relationship between these interventions and improvement in these variables can be affirmed. Regarding the modality of intervention, the results allow us to conclude that multicomponent interventions are systematically more effective than others in the analyzed indicators of personal well-being and reduction of distress. In addition, a greater efficacy of the interventions on variables related to personal well-being than for social well-being is shown. These data represent an important finding for clinical practice and for future lines of research.
