Abstract

In science, the English language has taken the predominant position that Latin once had. We believe more in things written in English, and scientific publications (which many call ‘literature’ outright, disqualifying a whole range of the literary genre), are mostly written in that language. Search engines for scientific articles have a very commonly used option, which limits these searches to find only those whose abstracts or full texts are written in English. Scientific literature written in French, German, and Spanish is not cited as frequently in our environment, much less articles in other languages.
