Abstract

Just over a year ago, the newspaper El País published an interview with Dr. Giacomo Rizzolatti, a neurologist and professor of human physiology at the University of Parma, about a curious discovery that he and his team had made in the cerebral cortex of monkeys. It was about neurons that were activated not only when the animal was executing a certain motor action, but also when the animal observed the same action, but performed by another individual, usually of the same species.
