Abstract

Western music is based on armonic rules that were first defined in the ancient Greece. These rules gave rise to western poliphonic music by the Middle Ages. Birds communicate through sounds that can be very sophisticated and pleasant for human ear. In fact, musical motifs taken from bird songs are used in many classical pieces. In this article, we review the relationships between bird songs and the rules of melody, rythm and armony defining music.
