Abstract

The location in the madrilenian “Granados Collection” of a picture representing a “Penitent Magdalen” of the painter Mateo Cerezo and it identification as the work belonged to the spanish collector Mr. Aureliano de Beruete, is used as point of item, for the study of the iconographic representation of the saint, her treatment and versions in the work of the painter, the replies, its stylistic and technical dif ferences, dating and, finally, the vicissitudes suf fered by the painting.
