Modernismo e Historicismo arquitectónico: Delegación de la Consejería de Educación en Cortijo Fischer (Almería)

Abstract

This building is the most important example of architectonic modernism in Almena, but without renouncing to the traditional historicism. Its constructfon is related to Herman Friedrich Fischer, who was enriched with his work as shipping agent exporting grapes from Almería and the agrarian capitalism of the end of the former century. After the Civil War the country house was converted in the civil governor residence, and in 1969 adquired its actual use. Modernism will remain warked inside the house with the carpentry of plinths, entrancy stained-glass windows, the skylight of the central court, the chimeneys decoration, the paintings or vegetal «frescos» decorating the ceilings. But the general structure of the building belongs to the bourgeois historicism as language of decoration and representativity of those days.
