The genus Passiflora L. (Passifloraceae) in Lambayeque Department, Peru

Abstract

The genus Passiflora L. (Passifloraceae) in Lambayeque Department, Peru. The genus Passiflora includes at the moment 13 species identified for Lambayeque. These species, some of them with their infrageneric taxa, belong to Passiflora and Decaloba subgenera. In this paper Passiflora cisnana, P. edulis f. flavicarpa, P. ligularis, P. manicata, P. mathewsii, P. quadrangularis, P. suberosa, P. tarminiana and P. tripartita var. mollissima are reported for the first time for Lambayeque. Among them, eight are restricted to the Andean region of the department between 1000-4000 m of elevation, and five inhabit the Pacific Ocean coast area. A key and descriptions of each taxon is provided. Also, chorological, ecological and ethnobotanical data are added.
