Este artículo suscita la posibilidad de una autoría femenina para la obra anónima del s. XIV La nube del no saber, que siempre ha sido atribuida a un varón en el ámbito académico. Se apuntan cuatro premisas: primera, el error de atribución sexual de la autoría de El espejo de las almas simples, mantenido hasta el s. XX; segunda, la concepción de la mujer de los escritores místicos ingleses Rolle y Hilton, que no se encuentra en los escritos atribuidos al autor de La nube; tercera, la grandeza literaria, teológica y mística de una escritora inglesa del s. XIV, Juliana de Norwich; y, finalmente, las consideraciones académicas sobre "el autor" de La nube y sus escritos afines, las cuales, sin embargo, podrían atribuirse, perfectamente, a una mujer del s. XIV en Inglaterra. Por tanto, la conclusión invita a cuestionar, quizás por primera vez, la autoría masculina de esta obra maestra.
