The Promotion of top performing athletes in both sporting and academic domains

Introduction: the aim of the present research project was the analysis of motor coordination taking age and gender as study variables. The coordinative variables measured are classified according to the motor area to which they belong, including locomotor coordination and object control (hand-eye and eye-eye-podal). Method and sample: the study includes the results of a sample of 235 pupils aged 6-11 years, selected by means of a non-probabilistic sampling technique without randomisation, more specifically, 51.9% (122) represent the population of boys and 48.1% (113) of girls. Regarding anthropometric values, a BMI of 19.03 ± 3.81 is observed, where weight results in an average of 35.63 kg ± 12.4 and height in 1.36 m ± 0.14. This study was carried out in a public school in Rincón de la Victoria, CEIP María del Mar Romera. Discussion and results: in terms of the discussion, we find differences that, as the maturation process progress, increase between pupils aged 6-7 years and those aged 10-11 years, finding effect sizes of 0.54 and 0.65 in CL and 0.51 and 0.7 in CCO respectively. Conclusion: however, in conclusion, although the differences by gender at ages 6-7 years are only observed in the CCOM (0.29) and CCOP (0.26), which is not a significant effect size, at ages 10-11 years we found more accentuated differences in the same tests, obtaining 0.55 and 0.52, that is, large effect sizes, concluding that boys have better performance in these tests
